April
2003 Show -

Jump
into Spring with the Invitation to Spring 2003
Exhibit which runs from April 4-27th at the Windham
Art Gallery, 69 Main Street. There will be an
opening reception during Gallery Walk on Friday,
April 4th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
This show highlights the work of Featured Artist
Karen Adamour Iglehart, who presents abstracted
landscapes in oil on canvas.
The show also features participating members:
Marilyn Buhlmann (small-scale color sketches of
Spring), Stuart Copans (paper players in light
and dark), Deborah Lazar (cloudscape digital images),
Susan McDormand (visions in lines of oil color),
Cary Nelson (landscapes, real and imagined, on
paper) and Linda Striedieck (Spring watercolors
and mixed media).
Of her work, Iglehart says: "My work is about
color, space and the movement of paint, rather
than particular subject matter. I am using the
landscape as reference and structure, to create
a feeling or atmosphere of a place. In not representing
many specifics of a particular place, viewers
may relate to the work more easily from their
own experience. I would like people to feel drawn
into a painting, as if into a completely different
and separate place, and creating this sense of
space and openness through color. I would also
like to present the landscape as part of a larger
whole, as if the land/view/space continues in
all directions. I am connected emotionally to
the use of oil paint - its texture, its depth
and its movement on the canvas."
